A shame that the weather didn't really live up to the "summer" part of the series title - better luck next year.

RACE 5 - RESULTS

A hot and muggy night saw runners take on the scenic but challenging 5th race in the series, up by the Esk and round by Inveresk last night.

A mass sprint finish at the end, for once, proved the handicapping was correct - but made life difficult for the timekeepers!! (Thanks to Henry for helping out).

Results are now ready:

The second race is on Tuesday 16th June.

The route is shown on the above map (click on the map for a more detailed copy).

Runners start and end at the same spot and run in an anticlockwise direction - route is 7.25km.

RACE 1

Wednesday's first race of the 2009 series (our fourth) saw 30 runners compete in ideal conditions round a picturesque 5k route.

First home was Gillian Smith of Jog Scotland who completed the distance in 36:40, just one second ahead of Valerie Bird.

Musselburgh's Ian Wood stunned the race handicapper by racing to his handicap exactly.

All future handicaps will be tighter and based on this last performance.

Some more phots are available at.....

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

Welcome to the new East Lothian Summer Series website.
The Summer Series consists of six handicap races held between June and August by and for those involved in running at all levels in and around East Lothian.
Races are organised by Haddington and East Lothian Pacemakers, Musselburgh and District Athletic Club, Dunbar Running Club and JogScotland.
Most of the races are around the 5k distance but may be slightly longer (nothing more than 7.5k)
At a one off payment of £3 for all six races its fantastic value and either a good way to get into the racing "culture" or simply a way to keep your training topped up with a few "sharp" quick runs.
Most of all it's a nice way to spend summer evenings in the company of other runners.
